Post-Secondary Update
For all students who have applied to a post-secondary:
While you may meet the admission requirements based on your transcript, you may not have completed a full semester of certain courses. This is why we strongly encourage you to participate in supplementary assignments prepared by your high school teachers. This will make your transition to post-secondary as easy as possible, and is especially important for courses at the 30 level. You should keep all supplementary assignments (and feedback from your teachers) that you complete.
Bow Valley College – taken from their website
Bow Valley College offers flexible admission routes for many of our programs, which provide applicants multiple avenues for gaining admission into a program of choice. In addition to the admission routes available, our Admissions team is accepting digital submission for transcripts and documentation for assessment and will assess based on the final grades listed on the transcripts. This means that applicants will not be penalized for the absence of diploma exam marks.
Mount Royal University – taken from their website
Mount Royal University is still making offers based upon self reported grades. For final acceptance MRU will review final Alberta Education marks assigned. Looking for the minimum grades required from 60 to 70 % depending on the program of choice. How will the cancellation of Alberta Diploma Exams affect my admission to Mount Royal University? Mount Royal will accept the final grade delivered on the official transcript by Alberta Education for each completed course regardless of how that grade was calculated.
Conditional offers of admission are currently being made to applicants who present a high competitive admission average on the appropriate high school or post-secondary courses depending on the admission category that applies to each applicant.
SAIT – taken from their website
Applicants must meet the stated admission requirements for the program they are applying to. SAIT is providing flexibility in admission decisions by using anticipated final grades submitted by applicants currently completing the courses required for admission. Decisions made on this basis will be final. SAIT reserves the right to request a final official transcript but does not require at this time.

- I’ve received an offer of admission. With all the changes to exams and course delivery, how do I maintain my offer of admission? We have made the decision to finalize admission offers based on your current admission average. Complete your current courses; however, your final grades will not impact your admission decision.
- A number of our first-year courses require a high school course as a pre-requisite. To ensure you are successful in first year, we encourage you to complete your required courses and provide us with a transcript as soon as it’s available, but no later than December. We will use the grades reported by your school, with or without a final exam. You will still be able to take fall term courses during this time. The conditions of admission in your student centre will reflect this information by April 3, your offer of admission letter will not change.
- Will having required courses outstanding when I start my Fall program impact my ability to register in first year courses? No. Pre-requisites for courses taken in the fall 2020 term will be waived to ensure that you are able to register for required courses for your program.
- Will I get transfer credit for IB, GCE or AP courses where a final exam is not completed? Advanced credit will be given for all course received on an official IB/GCE/AP organization transcript as detailed here: https://www.ucalgary.ca/pubs/calendar/current/a-12-1.html
- I have been admitted, but I cannot pay the admission deposit by the May 1 deadline? Can I be granted an extension? We recognize that in some country’s banks are closed and there are exceptional circumstances where a delay of payment may be required. These are reviewed on a case by case basis upon completion of the following form: https://www.ucalgary.ca/registrar/deposit-ex-request
